Olut on melko vahva, 11%.
Tuoksu on hyvin paahteisen maltainen, lakritsinen, aavistuksen nahkainen, sekä sokerisen mustan kahvinen. Suutuntuma on pehmeän täyteläinen, hieman tahmea, sekä aavistuksen polttava.
Maku onnistuu olemaan melko tasapainoinen, vaikka olut onkin erittäin voimakas. Emelissen IS maistuu itse asiassa juuri siltä kuin imperial stoutin itse ymmärrän; kuiva kuin kivi, paahteinen, lakritsinen, kahvinen, tumman suklainen, sekä melko moniuloitteinen. Ainoa pieni miinus tulee hienoisesta alkoholisuudesta, mikä tosin on ihan ymmärrettävää. Ihme ettei enempää maistu..

I haven't drink an imperial stout for a quite long time, but today I just felt that I must open this bottle of this dutch brewery's version of pitch black style of beer known as imperial stout. It's strong with its 11% of alcohol.
Aroma of strongly roasted barley, liquorice, a little bit of leather, and a sugary black coffee. Mouthfeel is soft, sticky and a little burning.
Taste happens to be nicely balanced although beer is strong. Emelisse IS tastes like typical IS to me; dry as a rock, roasted, licuorice,
black coffee, dark chocolate and it's a quite multi-dimensional. A little minus point comes from a tiny bit of booze in taste, but it's understandable - It's 11% after all. Wonder almost why it doesn't taste more...
Emelisse IS is a great beer, even when their barley wine wasn't that impressive. You should taste this if only there's a possibility to do that.
